Traditional costumes adorn Spring Festival

Dimapur, March 7 : The North East Spring Festival gained momentum as it entered its third day. The evening’s performance featured the traditional costumes of the Northeast, choreographed by Abhijeet Singha. 36 couples from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim, Tripura and Nagaland presented their traditional dresses and ornaments of their community.
The first round of the traditional costume show had presentations by the Lotha and Ao tribes from Nagaland, Nishi tribe from Arunachal Pradesh, Karbi tribe from Assam, Kamba Thoibi attire from Manipur, Mizo Lal attire from Mizoram, Jantia tribe from Meghalaya, Lepcha from Sikkim and Mog from Tripura. The second round was also a presentation of traditional dresses from the Northeast. The grand finale showcased contemporary attire consisting of 38 costumes.
Tomorrow’s show is expected to draw a huge crowd as the best choirs from the Northeast will be performing at the festival. They include the Mizo Choir from Mizoram and the Patkai Choral, Nagaland.
