BDR crosses border, BSF opens fire

SHILLONG: Tension prevailed along the Indo-Bangla border on Thursday morning as BSF fired in the air and detained a suspected BDR personnel who tried to enter Indian territory in Meghalaya along with several others.

About four Bangladeshis backed by BDR personnel entered the area in Muktapur at 10 am. “BSF personnel warned them and later fired a round in the air,” an official in the BSF (Assam and Meghalaya) frontier headquarters said.

One of the armed BDR personnel was caught and handed over to the Bangladeshi authorities at a flag meeting. “There was no casualty or injury in the firing,” BSF said.
