Troops of 3 Assam Rifles gunned down at least two suspected United Kuki Liberation Army Military Council,UKLA(MC) today around 6:30 pm in a reported shootout that occurred at bazar locality near subsidiar training center, Gangpimual, Churachandpur district
According to police sources, after receiving tipoff of presence of UKLA (MC) troops surrounded the house where the militants were sheltering. when the troops tried to frisk the house the militants fired upon the troops resulting in an encounter that resulted in the killing of two militants while one of the cadres amnaged to escaped.
Further the sources said that two .32 pistols along with four magazine loaded some live live rounds and fired cases, 132 demand letters, three letter heads,, a wrist watch, draft paper, a stmap and one reciept book, were recovered from the possesion of the slaiend cadres and the corpses have been deposited at the Churanchandpur District hospital, said the sources.
One suspected armed militant suspected to be valley based underground was shot dead during encounter between the troops of 31 Assam Rifles near border pillar No-81 near Moreh border Town under Chandel district this early morning and recovered sophisticated weapon and explosives from the deceased possession.
According to an official statement of PRO, IGAR (South) the incident occured while the troops of 31 Assam Rifles of 26 sector under HQ IGAR (South) discovering the movement of militants in general areas near border Pillar 81 near Moreh border town this early morning, the troop noticed suspiciously moving some armed UGs.
The statement further mentioned that, the AR troops on being challenge the suspect retaliated with auto firing and lobbed hand grenade on the troops. The Assam Rifles troops eliminated the cadre on the spot and recovered one Ache Rifle with one magazines containing 10 live rounds and two Chinese hand grenade from the deceased possession. The dead body along with recovered items were handed over to Moreh police station this morning, the statement added.
The statement also further mentioned that in yet another incident, the troops of 22 GRENADIERS recovered one pressure activated IED from the general area of Tuivang village yesterday morning around 11.40 am and recovered IED was 600 grams weight, 6 inch length, 3 inch diameter and same was destroyed in situ the statement added.
