Seyochung: Lauding the Sangtam tribe, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio encouraged the people to live an exemplary life among their community.
He was addressing the gathering as chief guest at the 61st conference of the United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) on January 9, 2009, at Seyochung Town.
Urging the students present to make judicious use of student life to get proper education and be recognised in society, Rio said, “Student life is the most important time because once you grow up it will be too late.” He challenging the student community saying competition is a must in the 21st century, and that one should be equipped to face these challenges.
The Chief Minister, terming the life of his father as ‘adventurous’, said, “If you are at home alone without vision, it might fill your stomach; but you will not have a future.” He further challenged them to be adventurous even in their studies. Rio also encouraged the parents present at the Conference. “
Invest in your child, if your child is educated, you are rich; if not, you are poor,” he said, advising them to take good care their children.
Touching on the unemployment problem faced by the people in the state, Rio said the government establishment had reached its saturation point, but was not the only avenue for employment.
He encouraged the youth to avail job opportunities in the private sector as “Nagaland is a land of opportunities”. For genuine entrepreneurs, DAN government was ready to support them to any extent, he stressed.
Earlier, in his presidential address, USSC president Thronglise gave a representation to the Chief Minister requesting the upgrading of Seyochung SDO(C) to ADC post and for the creation of Higher Secondary School at GHS Kiphire, citing the lack of a government higher secondary school in the district.
The chief guest was accompanied by Yatachu, Parliamentary Secretary for law, justice, prison & jails, C Kipili, MLA and chairman of NSMDC, and a host of dignitaries.
