Sangliana to head Minorities Commission

Bangalore, Dec 16 :

The Union Government has appointed retired IPS officer and former MP H T Sangliana as Vice-Chairman of National Commission for Minorities. He assumed the office in New Delhi on Tuesday.


The term of office is three years and H T Sangliana will be enjoying the status of a minister of State. He was elected to Parliament in 2004 from Bangalore North constituency on the BJP ticket.

The BJP expelled him from the party after he voted in favour of the UPA during the trust vote over the Indo-US nuclear deal.
