Change Manipur! It all starts with I

“Deep inside us, the blood is raging,
It falls from our bodies and embraces the earth;

It flows through the streets, squeezing up a surge of courage,
Our eyes are bloodshot for a purpose, a noble cause we will attain for sure;

For a, for a new era, new beginning, for a land of love and peace, and for a heavenly abode called Manipur”

On this day, let us light a candle of hope in the fond memory of Late Dr.Thingnam Kishan, the messenger of love and the harbinger of truth and his two faithful subordinates A.Rajen and Y.Token.Let us remember them once again and do some reintrospection of ourselves before the dusk. They were heroes who gave up their lives for a cause and whose deeds spoke much louder than what they actually said.

Can we still call Manipur,"Sanaleipak (Land of Jewel)"? A land where scavengers roam independently, a state where truth finds no place of its own and a state where good people are weed out to stop their hopes and dreams. Many have died a martyr’s death but nothing seems to have changed. The scenario has become even worst. A famine, not for food but human beings has hit our state.

Today I have many big questions in my mind. Why only in Manipur? Why does such incident happen in our state consistently, in spite of numerous uprisings and movements that we stage? Have the people been robbed of their hearts, feelings, compassions and everything?

How can they be so cruel? How can they be so ruthless? I could see a tide of futility greatly waving towards us. With these much of atrocities, I believe even a mechanical robot would start inheriting the human nature.

At the other end, I also keep on wrecking my grey matters as to why do we elect sixty dummies as our caretakers. They have always turned their back towards us. More than governance, they seem to be attracted towards nepotism, bribery and every other unsolicited activity.

In fact, we have made a serious blunder by electing them over some petty things and false promises. We did not ponder, hence we suffer. We seem to have developed immunity towards every suffering, so much so that we have started living with it.

Eventually, who is responsible for all of these? Though many questions arise from every nook and corner and many fingers are pointed towards the so called “The Responsibles”, there is only one bottom-line.

Everything starts with" I". Let us not blame others but ourselves, for we have not been truthful and sincere. We always criticize the whole system, but have never gotten into it to change it. We are never vigil until the theft has happened. In short, we never try to comprehend the real meaning of Humanity. When human beings fail to act as human beings, the eventuality is what we are seeing today and what we have seen ,time and again, in the past.

It is the high time that we resolve to stand in cooperation and retain that revered title for our state,"Sana Leipak".It is never too late now. Let us take this oath that we would do what ought to do for the betterment of the state.

We shall overcome, not someday, not tomorrow, not today, but now. In a new hope of a better Manipur, let us all reiterate what Dr.Thingnam Kishan had said, "If you ask me, if I have a dream. Yes, for a society where there is no exploitation, subjugation, domination and suppression."
