ASEAN-NE (India) trade and investment opportunities summit

Kolkata , Feb 9 Trade and Industry representatives and officials of the South East Asian countries will meet in Ho Chi MInh City, Vietnam, for a three-day summit, primarily to discuss business opportunities from February 12-14.

The Summit, being jointly organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region (DoNER), in association with the Indian diplomatic Mission in HCM City, Vietnam chamber of commerce, is the first-ever initiative to unfold vast resources in the NE region of India.

An ICC source said here today that Cambodian Industry Minister Nam Viyaketh will deliver the inaugural address on February 12.

A special session on"Lao-Cambodia- Vietnam Development Triangle and the North East India"will be followed by the valedictory session to be attended by ASEAN secretariat, Chambers of commerce of Bangladesh, Korea, Singapore, Canada, Australia and several ASEAN nations.

While India&aposs" Look East"policy will form the basis of the Summit, it will also focus on rich natural resources of eight North Eastern states of India and their investment opportunities in hydro-power, food and agro-processing, infrastructure, oil and natural gas and the tourism sectors.
