NE women writers meet begins

Imphal, January 31 : WITH THE motive to bring together women writers of the North Eastern region under a common platform for understanding one another and to build a durable bond for a joint venture against common problems, the first ever North East Women Writers' meet was kicked off on Thursday at Kangla Hall in Imphal.

The three day long writers' meet, organized by the Leimarol Khorjekol Leikol, Manipur in collaboration with the department of Art and Culture, government of Manipur under the aegis of the North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Dimapur is being attended by about twelve women writers from various North Eastern states.

The meet will discuss on various issues such as forming of a proper forum for giving training to talented women to become critics, to form a network for joint action to tackle common issues and problems of the region and building of bond between one another.

While speaking as the chief guest during the inaugural function of the meet, Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Manipur, Th.

Nandakeshore, asserted the need to uphold the emerging women writers of the region.

The MLA also held such meets will help ignite the sub due talents of women and hoped for continuation of such meets in other parts of the North East region which will speak the values of the women writers of the region.

The participants from other states while speaking during the inaugural function looked forward to interact with the Manipuri women during their stay.

They also asserted that the meet was an opportunity for the women in this part of the region to share ideas and differences.
